to eat going to or from the lake.  Criteria- gotta be consistently good- has to have been in business over 10 years-under $10 including beverage (yes, I am cheap).

Breakfast-  White grill in Nevada. Love their mess (yes, its called Lou's mess)  Booths and stools, in business before WW2.

Lunch-  Reds Drive-In in Greenfield.  Best pork tenderloin around, and old fashioned burgers and malts.

Anytime-  Cookies in Golden City- true Americana- whole ham slices- great fried chicken- open faced beef sandwich, burgers, good pork tenders, and heavenly pies just staring at   you.  I believe it was established in  1942.

Honorable Mention- Only because they haven't reached ten years yet-  Tractor Bar B Q in Lamar.   Breakfast lunch or dinner.  Great service and food.

Ken's in Arcola is good all three meals, especially breakfast. State Park Marina serves an excellent burger on the lake. We eat lunch at the Mexican restaurant in Eldorado Springs often on our way home, sorry the name of the place escapes me!

Burger Shack in Miller

hands down the best burgers in the area way better than state park burgers....the burgers in greenfield are good but not as good.... no doubt the best ones in Lawrence/Dade/Cedar counties.

The place in Arcola is real good too.

Burger Shack ain’t been there 10years but the burgers are always excellent

One more place

Laneys in Pleasant Hope has an excellent pork tenderloin.....wrong lake I guess but worth the stop if a person is over that way

Squeez Inn, Stockton, MO.

Everyone should experience the Squeez burger with it's "cheese skirt" at least once. It's safe to say there's none other like it.

Somewhat limited hours so research it online before making the trip.

I also second the motion on Ken's in Arcola. (breakfast, lunch, and dinners)

Ken's is 3 miles from THE CABIN and we have a late breakfast there frequently, always good biscuits and gravy.

I'm originally from Eldo, which probably explains my dain bramage.  Don't drink the iron infused spring water, it'll turn your hair white.

I like ken's in Arcola, especially the catfish. I have heard that Grandmas place north of Jerrico Springs is a real good place, but they are only open on Friday nights and maybe a couple more evenings during the week. I plan to try and find it next time at the lake.

Dang.... From the title of this string, I thought I might learn some good fishing spots from oghfm.  Especially since I went Friday evening and the same as got skunked.... a drum. Water, water everywhere and not a fish to bite!  But, to lend my two cents, Ken's is really good, if, you have the time to BS about how bad the fishing is while you wait for your food!
