Ryan Miloshewski Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 Starting a thread to see how everyone does for dove. Can't wait to get out in the morning. I will be hunting near Clinton. Where are you hunting? After a dreadful summer of no hunting, dove is always great to get back into it. slothman Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 I haven’t been out to scout it, but I may try to go for a short bit tomorrow morning if I can.
Ryan Miloshewski Posted September 2, 2019 Author Posted September 2, 2019 I ended up with 8 yesterday. Flew really well. They are loving the corn fields. Every one I cleaned had corn it their crops. I assume it's from the lack of sunflower and other fields planted due to the flooding. Should of had a limit but..well, I missed a lot. tho1mas and Quillback 2 “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold
Ryan Miloshewski Posted September 2, 2019 Author Posted September 2, 2019 Got four this morning in an hour. Going back out to try and finish the limit. Flew really well 8-9am but dead after that. It's hot.. “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold
Gavin Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Had opportunity at our friends farm near Topeka. Farm borders a 300 acre lake. Some teal, mallard, and geese on the lake, but no doves working their corn & bean fields. Bass fishing was good and a case of clay birds died so might do OK with birds to shoot. Kids had fun swimming & kayaking. Good time but poor hunting.

Saw a ton of teal. Can't wait for the opener Saturday. Gavin 1 “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold

Am I the only one being eaten alive by grass mites, or whatever microscopic bugs live in the grass/weeds? It seems that I can't take 3 steps off the pavement anywhere without spending 4 days in agony. And whatever they are they are 100% uneffected by bug spray. Worst case of them I have ever experienced. nomolites 1

Ok you are right about that. I got absolutely destroyed by the same thing you mention. Maybe oak mites? Whatever they are I am miserable today. fishinwrench 1 “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold
