Dutch Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 It’s finally picking up for me also. Yesterday we had 28 with 9 keepers in 5 hours on my favorite (spinner baits) though my color of choice didn’t work. I had to change to what I thought didn’t have a chance which was fortunate for me. Members Ricochet15 Posted October 5, 2019 Members Posted October 5, 2019 What color did you end up on the spinnerbait?I was throwing whites, gray, and some chartreuse and ended up being tough. No keepers but a bunch of small fish. Maybe I was in the wrong area.
Dutch Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 It was a 1/2 ounce home made luminescent white with silver holographic willow leaf blades a red head and a white with red flake split tail trailer. My partner was using a lighter weight chartreuse with chartreuse twin tail trailer. We caught about the same number of bass but the larger ones seemed to favor the larger flashier bait. I plan to try it again on Tuesday.

Walcrabass Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Dutch, Your choice of the Red Head etc. Spinnerbait has got to be a true killer, dip the tip of tails in Red Dye and even better. I don't have any JUST like yours but close. Are the blades a Size 5 and 4? Also for this time of year and in the Spring I use a Chartreuse Head, Chartreuse body, Chartreus Big Colorado, and Red Small Colorado. Then add a Chartreuse/Pepper Split tail trailer ( with the tips dipped in Red Dye ) and of course a Trailer Hook. A great Dirty Water and Cloudy day pattern. I have used this one for over 40 years. Dutch Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 The blades are 41/2 and 4 on that particular one. I do use a 5 and 4 on some. I don’t use a trailer hook unless I miss a few. It interferes with the regular trailer. I keep some rigged with and some without trailer hooks.
Members freefallin Posted October 9, 2019 Members Posted October 9, 2019 Spent the last 8 days camped at State Park and fished 6-8 hours each day with the exception of Sunday. Caught a limit each day on a variety of baits. Carolina rig, lipless, shakey head with 4" black blue worm), bone colored spook, spinner bait, jig and creature with the most robust bite by far was on a spinner bait (War Eagle willow with red colorado in white or chartreuse skirt). Mostly tributaries , channel swings with boat in 20' FOW and fish 5' to 7' Never left Maze on 3 separate outings and have to say that will be the first place I hit wen I return tomorrow. Fish have definitely moved towards the bank as offshore offering only produced with limited success.I actually did not catch any big fish but numbers were consistent and respectable. Overall the lake is fishing about as good as it gets (at least for this novice) and what a great time to get on the water.. Walcrabass Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Dutch, On the trailer.................. I put mine on so that the trailer comes out slightly below the bend of the hook. Then add the trailer hook on top of it and of course something to keep it there. I do not have problems with the trailer hook getting the way of the action even if I am using long tail skirts on the Spinnerbait. The trick I have found is to keep everything slightly below the bend in the main hook. Freefallin, Yep, Red Colorado is a killer........... love it on Chartreuse OR White Baits. Walcrabass
