tjm Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Who instituted the new guidelines? Is that where the money is?

tjm Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 P size contests never involve a conspiracy, always just between individuals. Nobody else cares how big either one is. FERC shouldn't have any control over river levels, but they would have power over generation and that would affect downstream levels. Flood control and avoidance (river levels) would fall to ACOE primarily. If USACE srt new regs over the Mo. River level at or down from the junction of the Osage to prevent a recurrence of the St Charles flooding, that would indirectly regulate the water Ameren could pass. In the same way regulated levels on the lower Ms. River could determine the flow though the Chain of Lakes. The common factor that LOZ, Beaver and Grand Lake share is the flooding of the lower Mississippi.
fishinwrench Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Ameren (Bagnell) only seems concerned with the LO lake level during the economic season. They never fail to have the lake near full pool for Memorial day weekend, and they will do anything to keep the level below 660.5 regardless of river conditions below the dam. The only corp lakes I pay any attention to are Truman, Pomme, and Stockton, so I'm clueless about the White River chain and how water is being managed there.....but it sounds like they are doing the exact same thing (whatever it is) as the Corp is doing on the Osage basin now. All I know for a fact is that THIS YEAR they are operating differently than they have been in the past, and I'm stuck wondering WHY.... because what they were doing in the past has always been successful. Why alter a method that has worked and has withstood the test of time during MASSIVE floods, and also during periods of wicked droughts ?
Old plug Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Your partly right about that wrench. They are very concerned about kissing the butts of the folks with money. They are not alone. The government goes easy on the big boaters and the party bunch. Going so far as to sacrifice safety through the water patrol. Like I posted I watch4 patrol boat sit at the mouth of Mill Creek for a few hours and never stopped a big boat mattervof fact they didc not stop much except a coupler pontoons and fishing boats. After sitting out their they all got together and went up to Bare Foot Bar for at least a hour. THAT kind of stuff is why I am leaving LOZ. I should be out of here before Memorial day.

navery Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Seems pretty straight forward like others have stated. My take is there are other factors downstream, like I thought, that affect these current releases. snagged in outlet 3 1
Members GENTLE Posted February 11, 2020 Author Members Posted February 11, 2020 Just "simply move that flood water" , lickiddy split, easy peasy!!
tjm Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 yeppers, just wash all those down stream flood plains clean, FEMA needs a project to piz money into. People ought to live on hills anyway, eh? terryj1024 1

People ought to live on hills anyway, eh? Everyone keeps saying that..... BUT there has been plenty of opportunity during the last 7 months to evacuate all that water they've been holding. Has there not? If flood control is your priority then you should never elect to hold miles and miles of excess water when downstream conditions are perfectly suitable for you to flush some out. It's as if they were predicting a severe drought or something. snagged in outlet 3, terryj1024 and GENTLE 3
