fishinwrench Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 Buck, Schrade, and Ka-bar have steel that I like in a working knife. I do have a Puma that is a great squirrel knife, steel is harder than any other knife I've owned....you can grab a stick and smack down on a squirrel leg and it cuts it clean, no harm to the edge at all.....but sharpening, when it actually needs it, is a lengthy process. For filleting and for all purpose kitchen (food prep) stuff I love the common wood handled Rapala's and American Angler electrics. My EDC is a 5.99 Ozark Trail folder, it sharpens easily, clips on my pocket, and just fits my hand good. It opens boxes, cuts hose and strips battery cable. MOPanfisher and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
snagged in outlet 3 Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 EDC was a smith and Wesson auto. The old made in America model. The lock is broke so it pops open all the time so it's sitting in my truck until I go to the gun show. Have a bunch from grandpa and my dad but those never leave the shoe box in my closet. Guys in the burbs been going to karambits for EDC. Nasty little things.

The one I bought is stamped Canadian on one side and on the other, near the handle, Grohmann with DH Russel below it. Below that is says #2 stainless.

I just can't make myself buy one, I have no intention of carrying it for protection, and it looks lie a disaster for cutting 550 cord, stripping electrical wire or trimming fishing line. My preferences are more mundane, basic straight blade or slight drop point. I did finally buy a cold steel tanto style (Kobun) mostly because I was making a midway order and if I increased the order a few more $$ then I could get free shipping which made the nice almost free. Well . . . That's what I told my wife anyway. Haven't yet found the intended use for the Kobun, but it rides around in the truck just waiting to be used. snagged in outlet 3 and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
