There has to be a happy medium but I don’t think a bass boat with a 150 or a jet ski (yep I’ve seen jet skis on the white) have a place on that river running full tilt. At some point there will be an accident and something will have to be done. I don’t like kayaks on the river with 8 units running and fog all over the river but I see them out there all the time..... just seems like eventually someone is going to get hurt or killed due to lack of common sense and that’s when we will see some sort of restriction put in place. I think the canoes and kayaks are equally as dangerous as the speed boats but for different reasons, I’ve rescued multiple kayakers who have gotten swamped in big water and we’re clinging to trees or floating down the middle of the river. You should see it on Taney. Same deal only more narrow with more people.
Quillback Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Dang kayaks, they are becoming a 'thing' on the Bella Vista lakes too. Should be illegal to own a camo painted kayak unless you are duck hunting. They are hard enough to see as it is, but going out in the lake with boats buzzing around at 50 mph in a low lying camo colored kayak is nuts if you ask me. If we're going to have any new requirements, then maybe we should focus on making those boats more visible, as in bright orange, pink, or chartreuse. 😄 snagged in outlet 3, ZigJigman and bfishn 2 1

I know you have a right to do it but....You're nuts!!!

At some point people have to be responsible for their own actions. If someone is not paying attention and hits a kayaker, it is not going to matter if they have a 9.9 or a 250. One thing for certain, you will see people with high hp jet boats(on average) have more knowledge about the river than not. Soil erosion is definitely not being caused by boat wakes either. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

Yep I always told my kids when driving "never trust that the other person will do the right thing". gotmuddy and ZigJigman 2

This is what gets me when it gets brought up at Taneycomo. I've been in fog so dense before that I can't see anything for less than 100 ft over there. I don't care if its a kayak, log, bank, shallow shoal, or another person in a full size boat. Your running on plane in fog like that and hit something, anything, someone is going to get seriously hurt/killed. Its like somehow we think because its a boat hitting another boat in the fog the damage will be significantly different. 20+ MPH and people get hurt seriously if not killed (BTW most of the people I've seen doing this were above 20 mph. Sure in bright sun the kayaks can still be difficult to see but its always the current, cold water, or fog that people use to drive home their point. There's plenty of other things to hit out there and the majority of them are only avoided by luck and common sense based on the conditions. bfishn 1
