I welcome them,

happy to have so many around

They sure like strawberries, and  I don't mind sharing. The top turtle was just leaving the patch to go take an afternoon nap under the shop after breakfast.

If they don’t get pollinated, squash will just shrivel and fall off - insecticides/dusting can kill pollinators.   One other possible cause could be lack of calcium - I have seen both give squash the problem you describe.

Like so many years in the past I'm looking at the tomatoes in mid-June thinking it's a cinch we'll have tomatoes by the 4th of July, and then the 4th comes and goes. Lotsa nice big tomatoes, and many more coming on, but other than the single one off The Little Tomato Plant That Could none of the big ones are turning yet. Getting lots of cherries though.

Just too dang hot here at the house for any tomatoes to be ripening during the day. Even if they are, it's at a snail's pace..

That's the reason I'm using the Bonide 544 sprays to help with that. Stuff really works.

           Happy days are coming soon.

I think this will be the first to pick. Probably ready now but Pat has been ready to pick it for three days.thumbnail_0707201142.jpg

Husky cherry red cherry tomatoes may be next. These are on the bottom. The plant is loaded to the top.thumbnail_0707201142a.jpg

Then first Black Krim.thumbnail_0707201143.jpg     Here are a few celebrity Looking good. All 15 tomato plants are loaded. One of those 15 are like the little plant that could is struggling but quite a few even on it. thumbnail_0707201145.jpg       Will be nice when we can eat enough to founder on tomatoes. Then it will be time to fire up the dehydrator!

Stumbled onto this episode of Growing a Greener World today. It's a pretty good show. Craig LeHoullier is a legend in the world of open pollenated tomatoes. Lots of interesting techniques he uses like growing in bags and hay bales are discussed. He's been working on dwarf varieties for several years and many of the varieties they've cooked up are commercially available now. Here's a link for info on that.

Well, I couldn't remember if I shut the water hose off in the graden last night so I went to check it. Opened the back door and had a visitor right beside the step😧

They say seeing snakes is good luck. I should have made a video of our cats attacking it. Poor guy never had a chance against ol' Bear cat's fangs, and Gracie's charm😄

He likes to roar for the camera.

It was kind of funny how the smallest cat we have ,Graycie ,she was waving her tail like a snake ,and dancing in front of it to distract, while the other bit it. You can see where  ol Bear got a hold of it behind the head and neck.

Pretty lucky the cats are so quick. That copperhead could of made those cats sick or dead.

They were born and raised outside, feral rescue, they have street smarts. There's 5 of them all brothers and sisters. Used to be 7 ,their Mom passed and so did a brother who was handicapped. Always at risk having outside cats.
