Garden up and running in BilletHeadVille,

Lettuce bed doing well. Potential freeze tonight and again Sunday night. Even though this stuff is pretty hardy glad to have the option to lower covers. Between the lettuce plants is some baby bok choy. Love bok choy. First time trying it. On the north end lost some plants. Not sure what happened. In this pic it all looks a bit sad. I had just watered it good. Kind of mashes it.

thumbnail_0409201431.jpg      Peppers under little grow light really happy,thumbnail_0409201816_HDR.jpg

Then we have tomato starts in my grow room (spare bedroom) . I went a bit overboard. Started 48. 24 black Krim and 24 celebrity . I don't plant near this many but have friends who appreciate our extras. I went and planted all the seed I ordered and got 100 percent germination,thumbnail_0409201816.jpg

New to me and my assembly of this contraption happened this morning. I bought an LED high powered grow light. It states to start 48 inches above plants at first. I could not get this height at first. Then lower after a few days. Hope it doesn't burn my plants. Its pretty cool. thumbnail_0409201139_HDR.jpgthumbnail_0409201139a.jpg

Dang how many watts is that ?  300?600? Mine got huge under a 36w. Thats more than enough light what you got there. Better have good air circulation as they increase in size or you'll have issues. They are already getting too crowded imo. Those peppers do look healthy,I haven't had the room to start any yet, tub is still full of maters. They are getting so big I had to start pruning them ,I don't like them to touch each other.  They are about 12-14"  tall now.  Didn't think they would grow so  quickly, had I known would have waited another  week or two before starting any.Wish it would stay warm so I can start moving things outside permanently.

Stuck a few maters in the Earth today. Soil felt warm even 10" down. I've never planted this early, ever. May be a mistake,I'm prepared to protect from a frost or monsoon if necessary. 🤞 I have back ups just in case these don't survive. Going to transplant them out of their red cups probably Thursday. They have doubled in height since last Thursday.

Sowed another 11 Belgium and 2 Boxcar Willies today. They will be started inside.

The outside plants are not liking this crazy MO weather. They are stressing out. I'm not sure they will make it through this next freeze. We'll see. Will try to cover them with boxes.

The gardening that takes place here in MD. When you rent not many options besides potted vegetables. So replanted one of my pre-bonsai plants.

Crazy weather here. 89 degrees Wednesday, 28 degrees Friday, got down to 28 again last night.

My babies had to come inside because it was too hot, then too cold. They're under old-fashioned fluorescent lights

Go big or go home I say . 1200 watts and in the words of the tool man Tim Taylor more power, more power ugh, ugh, ugh.   I have noticed a difference in my plants from not using anything but plant grow light in the tube style light. Stems are getting thicker and not growing up so fast. It also has a stetting switch for a bloom mode. Came with tinted glasses for messing with your plants while it is on. I just turn it off.

Yes crazy my friend! No frost but freeze. Wind stayed up to keep frost down. My lettuce bed had ice on it where the rain left water then froze. Some of the lettuce is pretty big now and the leaves had even froze to the Plexiglas. Not hurt as I know how hearty lettuce is.

It is kind of spooooooooooky.   BUT I have found another good use for the light. I tied a string from post to post right under the light. I did a dozen Clousers. I use UV cure resin on my heads. I hit them with my little UV light just to do a quick set. Then I put them on my string and let them bake for awhile. Cured  rock hard !
