Devan S.
I know some of you guys travel with a boat around the area and/or country to fish various places. How do you guys handle charging? Obviously a resort or single cabin style I assume you just pull up and plug in but how do you handle motels, ect. if you are forced to stay there? Do you pull the batteries? Obviously pull all valuables and lock the lockers but what else do you or don't you do?
Dutch
Carry extension cords. Around lakes many motels have outside plugins. No way I would remove my batteries. I carry 5 and would have no way to charge them. Terrierman and snagged in outlet 3
snagged in outlet 3
I have two 50' extension cords. I have to empty my boat at night since the lockers don't lock. Still wouldn't leave much in it. Too many vandals...
Devan S.
Yeah I think I would/will pull all rods/reels and tackle. Trolling motors/graphs are easy on/off within reason. Its all reasonably mobile as my boat sits outside now. Lock the lockers so they can't steal my cheapie life jackets, anchor, hound dog without working for them a bit. Biggest concern was charging. I use a regular charger(not onboard) so it will be setting exposed but will probably take the boat cover along just to keep everything from being wet in the morning. If nothing else....out of sight/out of mind. Terrierman
moguy1973
As for vandals I’ve seen where someone took a baby monitor and put it down under the console. If you are charging the boat there will be power for it. Then if anyone messes with your boat you’ll hear them and can go see what’s up. Those things will reach 200’ in most cases. jdmidwest
I always try to back the boat up close to the room. Depends on the motel. Almost all have a place to charge. Boat cover helps, I always carry a cheap one, helps keep the interior dry if a rain comes in. Rods and tackle off the boat, boxes locked, keys out of the boat. Trolling motor lock if quick release. Trailer hitch lock even at ramps. Don't want to come back to ramp and no trailer. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S.
