Johnsfolly Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 Since we have been in MD, I have seen two piebald deer. One was a fawn that was probably 90% white that was about 2 miles from our house. Then two weeks ago I saw this doe about four miles from the house. Sorry about the poor photo. We also have been seeing black squirrels and a bearded hen close to these same spots. Quillback Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 I was on a business trip to Syracuse NY several years ago and stayed in a hotel that was next to a park like area. Lots of squirrels and I think just about every one of them was black. I'm pretty sure it's a color variation of a gray squirrel, but even though there are tons of grays here in this part of Arkansas, I have never seen a black squirrel here. Johnsfolly 1

Jeff they are a melanic form of gray squirrel. My dad's neighborhood in White Plains NY had quite a few black ones. Went he moved to Georgia, there might have been a 50:50 ratio of the black form versus the normal gray forms. I always wanted to have on mounted. Deadstream and Quillback 2

What's weird is they are all over inside the city limits but if you get out of the city it's all greys and reds. https://www.google.com/search?q=olney+il&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjIrfC4_uPpAhVGCM0KHbd1AaUQ_AUoA3oECB0QBQ&biw=1477&bih=740 https://www.ci.olney.il.us/visitors/white_squirrels/index.php Johnsfolly, Quillback and Deadstream 3

jdmidwest Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 Saw this one near a jobsite the other day. There has been an albino gene going around that town for many years. Deadstream Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 My lake cabin in Northern Michigan has mostly black squirrels around. A few grays, very few reds. We do have some piebald deer around, most people leave them alone. I'm leaving this week for the summer/fall if I can avoid the riots and the roid. HA. Johnsfolly and snagged in outlet 3 2
