I was thinking the same about Wine because you don’t cook the berries but ferment them.

Drank a 12 pack of Beer one time and gallon of Elderberry Wine. I was too drunk to fish and my Pickup rolled into Lamine River with me laying in the bed.

My Grandma use to take Polk Berries for Arthritis.

I remember going to school had an infected cut, put Salt Pork Fat on it. School Nurse had a fit. Dang Hillbillies and Hillbilly ways.

Nearly everything when tested in ridiculous amounts causes cancer.  As for cuts th absolute best "non medical" cure or treatmenot I have ever fund is to let the dog lick it, if you have a dog that will spend a long time gently licking a cut it is amazing how much better it will heal.  Otherwise A&D Ointment.  My mother at one time was the Hickory County Health Nurse, it was amazing the things people did to try to cure, heal and or treat things.  Usually by the time they sent someone to town to bring the nurse out it had gotten bad and required several days of treatment and shots of penicillin etc. and changing of dressings.  She went to a lot of bak woods places, but the basic rule out in the hills was, you don't bother the nurse!  If there was a problem a simple mention of it to the Sheriff and the problem vanished one way or another.  Besides I wouldn't have wanted to be the one who tackled her, would be like wrestling a bobcat.

My grandpa thought diesel fuel was the cure for everything.  It does do wonders for bee/wasp stings, and mosquito bites. 

Butter (the real thing) is great for burns....of course that's after you've rubbed diesel fuel on it. 😅

Hickory County don’t like me. Most time for me was Polk and Green Counties.

Wish in a way we had a place in Ozark County. I use to like going down there hunting. Use to like camping there be miles from nothing.

We have place in Laclede and Benton Counties.

My Ex was from Laclede County back then her family was crazy Indian Loggers. Beat the something out of you just for fun.

Dog licking on minor wounds does seem to help.  They seem to know it too.  Best thing ever to finally get poison ivy heal up and leave you alone.  Wait.  We're starting to sound like two old hillbillies.

             Right after your dog licks its butt right? Does that help even better? Ill pass and just use good old soap and water. Cover and keep moist with triple antibiotic salve.
