Found me a jewel hiding under a layer of grease and carbon. A hammered piece. I knew what it was as I spied it. Price was right so I grabbed it. Three days in the E-Tank and it stripped it clean. Just finished seasoning it.  Its a circa 40s single notch lodge size #8 deep also known as a chicken fryer. This will be Pat's. She seen some hammered Lodge before and wanted a piece but no way. Hammered can get expensive depending on the brand. So I am asking if anyone knows of a #8 hammered lodge skillet lid let me know please. Or if you have one we can do some business if you want to part with it.  Don't send me to E-Bay either. Those sellers are way to high. Works for them as there are people that have deep pockets.

   Thanks

That's cool looking. Never seen that type before -- hammered or that deep.

That looks great Marty! I will keep an eye out for a lid. I haven't seen a hammered piece before, but I do dig around looking for iron. So maybe I will stumble across one.

Why do you want a lid?  Don't say to fry chicken.  That's a beauty!

              I just want a set!

Plus I found out something a bit ago. I have a friend who collects too. He will be looking for one also. He schooled me in something after I sent him the picture. Asked do you know the difference between a chicken fryer and a deep skillet? I said enlighten me. He did. A skillet has pouring lips, a chicken fryer does not. See I am still learning. I dug out a couple I had. One is an unmarked deep heat ringed skillet and then I have a flat bottomed  Wagner chicken fryer.

So technically I am looking for a deep skillet lid. Still going to be a job I think but here is to hoping.  Lids have a way of getting separated from the skillet or broken.

In that case, give me a skillet every time!

I have a hammered lid, I think size 8.  Not sure what brand.  I'll dig it out tonight and get a look at it.
