Members crazybaldarcher Posted October 8, 2020 Members Posted October 8, 2020 Does anyone know if they are still planning on the fly fishing film festival this weekend (Oct 10) or has COVID cancelled everything for me?
fishinwrench Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Still happening. We'll be there. I guess the stupid Holland derby is going on in the park Sat. & Sun. I'll be avoiding that ignorance.

They put on a film tour show on Saturday evening if you're into that sort of thing, and a One-Fly competition if you're into that sort of thing. Several reps have pussed out....due to the pandemic this year....but I've been there every year since it started and it's always a casual good time. tjm 1
fishinwrench Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 If you see a yellow lab running around showing off a rock like he wants you to throw it....but not letting you...., he belongs to me, his nickname is Roo. The only way to get your hands on the rock is by FAIR TRADE, which has to be something more valuable or tasty than the rock. A new hat, a can cooler, a wading boot, or a half a sandwich. tjm Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 I don't know what a "film tour" is but it doesn't sound like it's worth the 5 hours of round trip driving, even though I am interested in most things fly fishing related.

No I wouldn't drive that far to do ANYTHING, much less just to watch fishing videos on a big screen. We go to camp, fish, and chill. The weather is going to be perfect for it.
tjm Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Oh, if it was something exciting enough to get me out of the five county area, we'd stay a few days and fish. Anything over an hour from home I usually want to make it an overnighter. Guess it's been twenty years since the last time we went to Bennett. Of the four trout parks that is my least favorite.
Gavin Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 If over a 4 hour drive one way, at least 3 nights or more, fishinwrench and tjm 2

Well typically you can score some really good stuff pretty cheap as the vendors are showing off new stuff and liquidating the old stuff, but with the way Corona has made everything stupid, it's hard to say how it will be this year. Last year I loaded up on FishPond stuff for 1/3 of the regular price. RIO is dumping all of last year's lines pretty cheap because they have gone to a new "low stretch" core and super slick coating on all of their lines going forward. The old stuff is still awesome in my book. tjm 1
