Gavin Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 The fish eat accuracy. If on my game I can bump them in nose at 60’. Not how I like to fish anymore. Not that mad at them.
bkbying89 Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 Foam and rubber legs are fine, just about any modern combination of materials are OK. No silly worms or silicon grub like baits. Bill Johnsfolly 1
2sheds Posted February 22, 2021 Author Posted February 22, 2021 Thanks for the input. When trying to do the right thing to help sustain our wild trout population (Blue Ribbon waters), I'm thinking our primary objective is to maximize probability of successful ''catch and RELEASE". Therefore, stuff more likely to mouth hook (less likely to be swallowed and gut hooked). So I'm sensing a thumbs up for my foam beetle and that I don't need to trim off my rubber legs. Many Thanks. But I do use synthetic threads frequently, I guess I think of thread as "thread" rather than "materials". And I like a strand of crystal flash here and there. Perhaps I use more synthetics than I thought I do, I'm glad they say "any other material" :)

Yep, a "frost" colored sili-worm wrapped over red thread is a well known Trout Park and Tailwaters killer. tjm and FishnDave 2
tjm Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 First time I've seen that. Are those considered "flies" by the Park Ranger?
