I bass fished it once last year for just one day. That day was slow and we grinded out a small buddy limit. I will be back for some bass fishing in about a week as well, hoping for a better bite. Will be there 3 days this trip. If anyone has been bass fishing it would be great to read an update.

The fishing at MT went to hell back in the late 80's and to my knowledge never rebounded, at all.

The MDC does all these fish shock surveys, water quality testing, and all other imaginable types of monitoring on all of the other lakes.......but if anything like that ever happens at MT I certainly have never heard about it.

Pretty much smells like nobody cares !

Wonder why?  🤔

Where are all the brilliant fisheries biologists that love to write articles.....and $#!t ?

A buddy that I was fishing with last week had been up a couple weeks ago.   He keeps his bass boat up there.    Same report I always hear.   Bass fishing was almost nonexistent so they fished for crappie.    Had to catch 10-12 little ones to get 10” squeaker to keep.   Let us know how you do if you go.   Pictures are a nice touch too.

Well we fished 3 Days last weekend it was some pretty tough fishing Friday my partner caught a 3.75-4 pounder but we only had two other keepers to go with it Saturday we managed five keepers but they were all between 15 to 16 1/4 inches Sunday we manage for keepersWith the best one being around 17 inches. We had somewhere around 4-6 short’s each day along with those. Had a few on a buzz bait A few on a spinner bait and the rest on three different soft plastics. Both Saturday and Sunday we had a flurry where we caught multiple keepers in 10 minutes without those two flurries our days would’ve been much worse. Our 9 keepers went 21 lbs for our sat-Sunday weight

Thursday, was a good day bass fishing, We had close to 15 lbs in 5 fish. Caught 11 keepers and only 4 shorts. Friday was a little slower. fished a different area. 5 keepers but only 12 lbs. Saturday 5 keepers was only 11 lbs. All fish caught on topwater and plastics.
Good luck fish and be safe. The boats on the week-end up there seem to keep getting bigger and more of them. Some areas were really rough.

Solid performance! 👍

Did the bass look fat and healthy?

Feels good to hear a positive report from MT.

Upper, middle, or lower end of the lake ?

I have always thought it could do better.  Been there one time and liked the area. Will probably return in the future. Only a 4 hour drive for me.

I’l be back there to fish for one day on Saturday. I’d like to be able to get at least a buddy limit again, but getting 15 pounds like you did would be fantastic.

Well we didn’t get 15 pounds. We got a 5 bass limit between us for 12.3. Had one 3pounder,,two that were between 16.5-17”, then two that barely made 15”. We basically only fished 4 areas due to being in a smaller low HP boat. We couldn’t get bit on top water or on SB even though there was decent wind in a few spots. Four of ours came on a GP jig. Some others we talked to did much better with 16+ lbs on what they guessed was around 12+ keepers. We clearly missed something that they didn’t.
