AGM’s aren’t necessarily labeled as such. They can provide a high reserve capacity along with high cranking amps. They are often called dual purpose.

I have the Duracell..1000 marine cranking amps and around 210 reserve capacity. I would prefer the interstate but couldn’t find one when I needed it.

Even though I do not have the livescope and only have two 10" UHD Garmins, I had the same no crank problem happen to me. I read this thread and the answer/solution appears to be fairly simple and not too expensive. The rear battery box has room for an Amped Outdoors or other small battery.

Unfortunately, the Amped Outdoors appears to  be out of stock. And I do not know how or what to explain to a boat mechanic type to make the "fix." I have mentioned before how I was raised by an "orphan" father who had no one to teach him mechanical skills and that explains  how and why I am so ignorant and "unhandy."

So what, other than driving to see wrench, do I do? say? explain? buy?

If you are not running Livescope, 360, or any other voltage hogging toys.....then you should be fine with just a reasonably fresh 950+ group 24-27 cranking battery.

You would think so, but the month old crank battery gave up today after four hours with two Garmin UHD 10" sonars. It was a long way to the marina by TM.

If I can end this with a couple of hundred dollars, I will not worry.

Got a voltmeter on the console ?

Your engine charging system may be kaput.    Happens all the time.

I have my console Solix set to show voltage from the cranking battery.  It goes to near 14 as soon as the Verado starts up.

You should be good then.   I believe the Verado charges at 40amps.   I don't see any reason why a GOOD  battery should be discharged that easily.    I can run 2 LCRs, a Livewell pump, charge my phone all day long while running Navonics....and never have any problem starting a V6 outboard.

A new battery can still be a bad one...happens from time to time and I would say more often than it used to. But again...just a "new cranking battery" went dead isn't the issue. What kind of battery went dead? Pros don't use separate lithium systems for their forward sonar...the ones that don't use lithium use big AGM's. BIG! Some do run a parallel system but for most normal fisherman thats probably overkill.
