@FishnDaveKilling it on those koi and goldies! I haven't tried the Baltimore ponds yet. I have some leads on a different blenny and banded sunfish to try first. Work kept me from trying yesterday for those guys. Koi may end up next year if the ponds get too cold.

Do you ice-fish?  I've caught common carp while icefishing, and I know a guy that would catch nice goldfish while icefishing....said they were really aggressive in the winter!

Yes - sort of 🙄. Two issues; we don't have an auger and like in MO many lakes/ponds do not freeze sufficiently hard to actually icefish. Still willing to look into that as an option.

Ah.  I get it.  Yeah, I don't ice fish anymore, since we moved here.

A hand auger works fine in such situations with ice 8" or less.  Later in the season in Iowa, the ice could get 8"-18" thick or more.  When its that thick, you really appreciate a gas auger or electric auger.  I gave all my ice gear away before we moved to StL.

Actually, the IDNR usually cuts holes in the ice to do winter trout stockings with a chain saw!  I guess there's more than one way to cut ice... :)

Just trying to push a little to get @FishnDave to think about a lower current river or 11pt trip this winter for chain pickerel.😉

I find more chain pickerel in upper portion of Current River and Jack's Fork than lower part.  Sloughs and grass beds.

Thanks!  I'm game!  Who knows...maybe by this time next week I will add them to my "caught" list? :)

With @Ham 's help, I saw some Chain Pickerel, but didn't catch any.  Did catch a Grass Pickerel, though!
