Almost 10 bucks for a premium 8 foot 2x4 and you better be ready to dig through the pile to find one that is premium. I built three Layens bee hives this spring and each day I bought prices jumped big time. Bought metal last week cost us $1,000 more than last November. oneshot

jdmidwest Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 300 x in lumber since Covid. And people are building like crazy. Its nuts. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
rps Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 Younger daughter bought an old house to refurbish. In her plans she included a wooden fence for the unfenced yard. Her plan has been delayed by the present cost of wood.

It was only Covids fault until a new president took over. It somehow became all his fault after that. Not sure how that logic works out but many seem to feel that way. 🤪

oneshot Posted May 29, 2021 Author Posted May 29, 2021 We did an add on three years ago on the Cabin. Cost for 12X20 was $3,000. Cost for add on in February 12X16 got most of it done $1,500. Yesterday bought 10 1X6 10 foot long treated, 2X4 6 10 foot long and 3 8 foot long treated. 2 pounds of Deck Screws. Over $300. Have a friend that got a Building Loan last year. He didn’t jump on it and get it done. Now he has found he can’t do half of what he got a loan for and can’t get another loan to cover the increase cost of Lumber. oneshot
