Bill Babler Posted August 3, 2021 Author Posted August 3, 2021 He mentioned in one of them that Lowrance had supplied them for both he and DC. Not sure about MDJ he is part of that rat pack but I think he is a solid Garmin guy. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Members WWM Posted August 4, 2021 Members Posted August 4, 2021 I drew Kyle Hall for a day on Harris Chain BPT stage 3. He had one of the more over the top setups I’ve seen. 2-12’s at the console and 2-12’s, 16inch, 2 livescope transducers, and a turret up front. I will say, kid knew how to utilize his equipment.

Must've spent too much time video gaming and not enough time fishing in that event. He finished 45th and missed the cut by a mile. Having lived a few years in Florida, shallow natural lakes are not the place to be jacking around with electronics. Better look up from the screen and see what's actually going on around you.

I was with him on knockout round when 38 guys cut to 8 before final day. He finished 25 overall for stage 3. I totally agree though Champ. He wouldn’t stop staring at the screens offshore, all while I gave him updates about guys catching fish that were up on the grass lines within eyesight of us… guess you have to give him credit for sticking with his game plan. 😂🤷♂️

However, a lot of gunmen die when they hesitate. I had an Arkansas friend who was bullheaded as a champion Angus. He fished BASS for a couple of years and actually won an invitational in South Carolina. But this guy would tell me before he ever left town for tournaments what one or two lures he was gonna throw all week because just KNEW that was how the tournament would be won. In his case, confidence was a downfall. All things in moderation. Even confidence. Quillback and crazy4fishin 2
Bassin4fun Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 Yeah, there are so many options and it is tough to make the call. You start out with a game plan but you may have to switch strategies based on what is happening at that moment in time. But you need confidence in your knowledge and abilities. I made the mistake of listening to someone else right before an event and scrapped my whole gameplan. Never doing that again. Quillback 1
Bill Babler Posted August 5, 2021 Author Posted August 5, 2021 James, I think that has hurt Michael on this MLF deal. You have to be able to change in a minute. You just cannot try to force the number of bites you need to bend them to the way you want to catch them. If Beck were alive and 25 years old this would fit him to a T. That man could change locations, baits and techniques faster than anyone I have ever seen. He could just follow the fish. Quillback 1 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

He'd pull up the troller and run 3-5 miles on the Arkansas River to his next spot 10 times a day. And chances are, he wasn't throwing the same thing or even fishing the same kind of cover/pattern on any of the 10 spots. First time I ever got in a boat with him, he made a 15-mile run up the aforementioned Arkansas River near Little Rock to a serie rock jetties with current rippling over the top of them. "Time for some topwater fish!" he said. "Got a Spook tied on?" I did, and I picked it up. But who throws topwater at noon on a broiling September day? George's second cast produced a Table Rock-looking spotted bass ... 18 inches and 3 solid pounds. Long story short, we sat there and caught 15 before the action cooled a half-hour later.

Gotta constantly be on the "when in Rome" deal ... throw what they want at the moment and be ready to change in a heartbeat.
Bill Babler Posted August 8, 2021 Author Posted August 8, 2021 James, as you know I love Mike to death, but there are just some ways he won't fish. Trouble is in this format that's the way you catch them. Also he is so loyal to his sponsors he refuses to ever fish a bait he is not sponsored by. He just will not do it. He has great sponsors including Spro, but at times for the water and conditions there may be a better mouse trap. He is going to come in last up there this week and that's a shame. I don't know if he is sick or equipment problems or just did not get on them. He was doing great on the Tackle Warehouse circuit in 14th. but he had a bad derby last week also. He did make the championship so I'm saying a little prayer for him. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
