James, as you know I love Mike to death, but there are just some ways he won't fish. Trouble is in this format that's the way you catch them.

Also he is so loyal to his sponsors he refuses to ever fish a bait he is not sponsored by. He just will not do it. He has great sponsors including Spro, but at times for the water and conditions there may be a better mouse trap.

He is going to come in last up there this week and that's a shame. I don't know if he is sick or equipment problems or just did not get on them.

He was doing great on the Tackle Warehouse circuit in 14th. but he had a bad derby last week also. He did make the championship so I'm saying a little prayer for him.

Good Luck

Bill, your prayers are joined with mine for Mike's success in the championship. Mike is a fantastic representative of what a lot of these young fishermen (pros and ams alike) should aspire to ... a gentlemanly competitor who minds his own business and never has a bad word to say about others. Watched him raise three boys while fishing tournaments for a living, and he was more "present" in their lives than a lot of guys who are at home a whole lot more than him.

I understand completely what you're saying but Mike was cast and molded in a different type of tournament fishing ... one where persistence with an angler's strong suits usually paid off at the end of the day. Dead periods during the day didn't hurt you ... all you needed was 5 casts to weigh in 20 pounds. In the MLF format, you better be catching them all day on whatever the heck they are biting at the moment. As you well know, that's a different deal altogether than traditional tournament formats.

Again, I join you in prayers and best wishes for Mike in the upcoming championship.

Mr. McClelland has made it to the next round.  From what I gather, this tourney is a best 5 tourney, but operates under the BPT tourney format.  Couple of qualifying rounds, then an elimination round and then finally a championship round.  Winner gets $200K.  At least that is my understanding.  Anyhoo, Mike is still in it.

Good news, Jeff. Hope he hangs in there.

Finished 14 th.  $11,500.00 winner. Needed one more bite after a really slow start to the day.

He fished with a heavy heart this week as his Uncle Don passed. His uncle and Aunt that also passed late last year were the reason Mike moved to Blue Eye. He got the land for his beautiful home from them, just 1 house up the road from me.

His next event will be St. Claire in 3 weeks, on the MLF Bass Pro Tour.

I didn't know exactly where he had built up there but being that close to you, he must have quite the view of the lake. When he was in Bella Vista, we lived only a few houses apart for quite a few years. He's a good neighbor.
