Finished middle zone season breaking ice to get into Schell. Almost got the boat stuck on the ice. Huge numbers of ducks and snows on the refuge lake. They were making a short jump to the refuge field to feed. Had 3 pair and one single come in. Enough to get 4 green heads and be done by 8:3065251351-E35B-4EB2-91D5-7A557F71B479.jpeg6FFCCE60-5364-473C-89A8-6F9ECC49DC56.jpeg

Hunted Schell Saturday and killed 6. Mixed bag of wood ducks, widgeon and Mallards.

That was some thick ice out there in the pools.

Looks as if there were many that had decent season in Middle Zone.  I am sure they put in the time to find and work them.  Not so much for me as I did not really put in the time this year.  I will do better next season.

It definitely took a LOT of scouting and driving. Had to find the birds, which is why most were complaining about the lack of mallards. It wasn't easy, and probably won't be any easier next year, but it's always fun!

Were you in the interior holes or on Barber? I was on the NW coorner of willow Slash, heard shooting to the north sounded like most of it was from Barber. I would be surprised if anyone could get to the interior holes but i didn't go check them out.

The answer may not lie at the bottom of a glass, but you should always check

Based on your pics it looks like it paid off for you.
