The lampreys I have seen always attach to the meaty area just behind the gill plates or on the lateral line where the fish's blood supply is greatest. A lamprey wouldn't be able to suck much, if any blood from where those scars are located. Also the lamprey scars are perfectly round. BTW, that is a toad.... Congrats. snagged in outlet 3 1
Ham Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 The Chestnut Lamprey were there before the trout. They are not invasive and have their place in nature no matter how unappealing they are to us. There is no need to kill them. they only live about 3 years and are only parasitic for about 6 months of that time. They feed parasitically prior to their spawn. All the adults spawn once and die. They feed on leaf litter and such for the first 2 1/2 years of their life. Huntingducks117, Nick Adams, Johnsfolly and 1 other 4 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. netboy Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 As hard as I have tried, I doubt that I have ever actually killed one. They always swim away. Their body is like a big rubberband and so slimey you can't grab them.😁

When it first rolled up something was on it. I just assumed eels after seeing the scars. I don’t know 🤷♀️. Maybe moss or something. Whatever was on it came off. It was quite a way out when it first come up and it looked huge with whatever it was. Heres a 20” that weighed 5.02 on my scale on the same measuring board. Quillback 1
