Ryan Miloshewski Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 I've seen it with deer. Damndest thing. Ticks on the inside of the hide “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold

More likely Sarcoptes. If on a human the condition would be called Scabies......and it's highly transmissible, so I hope you took a bath and washed your clothes after skinning it. 🙂
tjm Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 I don't think it would be "a beautiful Red Fox" if it had mange.

tjm Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 Not at all, canine Sarcoptes victims become hairless/partially hairless and they stink terribly. I don't know anyone who could stand to skin one. Ivermectin is the cure though if you start treatment soon enough. It's also the prevention.
