I'm happy to kickoff the 2022 thread! Headed up to my 2nd favorite fishing hole on Friday with some buddies from work..we're hoping the forecast holds and we can find some whites or walleyes waking up for the Spring. Will post with updates

Anyone still fish at Caplinger Mills?

Not like I used to. Tired of the people so I go farther downstream in a boat and sometimes never see another soul :).  I have caught a ton of fish there though. Started fishing there over 45 years ago.

I used to fish there a lot as well.  Caught many slab crappie there as well as walleyes and whites.  Can you still drop a boat in at N highway?  I used to hike downriver from the bridge to get away from the crowds.  Used to be a great boat ramp above the dam that I'd use to bass fish in the mill pond and above.

Yes as far as I know you can still access the river at N. Actually, a couple years back the road was redone to the ramp and ramp was cleaned up with some gravel. Fishing down below the bridge one sunday morning in my pond prowler they turned on the water. I had parked my pickup by the water. I hit the TM as fast as it would go and by the time, I got there the water was up to my running boards. You could count on no water running on Sunday but not that day.

The little park above the mill dam in town was originally owned by MDC. They abandoned it and it was then given to the bridge society in town. You could still camp there and launch. I am not sure what happened if it was an insurance deal but then it was sold to a gal in town. She started charging for camping and soon it was chained off and no trespassing. You are right about the fishing above. Some nice smallmouth up there too. I have caught two below the dam since I fished there but a bunch above. Farther up you go the more there are.
