Smallmouth Bass

I've never caught any decent smallmouth out of the Finley but I've had success with Largemouth at and above the lake area. I once talked to a guy who said a ten pound largemouth was pulled out of the Finley. Not sure if I believe that or not. I'm on a quest to catch an 18+ inch smallie this year so the Finley is on the list!

I’ve seen some really big smallys and largys in the Finley. But I haven’t caught them yet. Not sure about 10 lbs but I’ve seen at least half that size. That would be sweet though. We have a similar goal 😎

5 pound smallie is a trophy for sure!

No smallmouth bass should ever be a "trophy", if you are gonna kill one of those,  you should at least respect it enough to eat the thing. Trophies are for  ball players and short bus kids.

 Here's an ugly fishing trophy for all the lovely ball players and short bus kids out there.  Add to your collection!  You can just buy it and not even bother fishing!  Its got that so-overdone, common "surf-casting horse-jockey sanitation engineer nutcracker vintage baseball player carp wrangler fraternity" vibe.

I'm starting to warm up to it.

It's still a trophy when I release it.  I don't keep any fish and I have dozens of trophies...

That's a real trophy there Dave. It'd look better on anyone's mantel or shelf than a nasty stuffed bass skin. If I needed a trophy,  I'd go for it. Almost as good as a saucer sized buckle.
