Though I'm sure I would have been okay, I would've lost my boat and some fishing rods. He just happened to be puttering around in a jet-yak where we dumped and came to the rescue in deep swift water. Its a river to be respected for sure. I would like to explore the extreme upper stretch around 76 Hwy and Topaz. Have never been above Twin Bridges. What kind of boat? Jet? ColdWaterFshr
I was in a 15 foot canoe. My younger brother in the front -- who is slightly top heavy and clumsy -- made a sudden lean to the left, and with that, we were going for a swim. 😂

I'm sorry those folks lost their lives. That is a fun river to float, but it does try to get you wet when you don't want too. I've lost count of the times I've floated my hat when wading down there. The last nasty wipeout I had was on the NFoW around one of the islands between Myron's and Blair. I was floating solo in the kayak and tried to run a chute that looked like guaranteed tragedy in a canoe, but a short wild ride in a kayak. I ended up rolling the boat on the face of a 3'' standing wave. Lost a rod, hat, and a pair of sunglasses. Had my PFD on for a change, and was glad I did. at current lake levels where they had issue was river. After todays rain though probably not everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
