Anyone been out Morel Hunting as of Lately? I am getting the itch. Should be soon here in Hillsboro area.

Also going to give the spores you buy this year a try, for hopefully next year Morels. The old legs are not what they use to be.

Any tips for spreading the spores here in my woods?

They say to soak the wood chips in a 5 gallon bucket over night then toss out in a 4' x 4' area, either in a raised garden or in the woods with oak tree's.

Thanks

Should be soon. We have found them as early as  March 28th but for the most part around the 10th of this month. Pat came home from work last week and said someone had showed her a pic of a tiny grey the size of a fingernail peeking out from under oak leaves. I'm ready for a mess.

Grays were found in Illinois this weekend by a friend. I looked around at farm some Sunday but did not find any.

      Beginning to pop here,

With the current reports coming in it was time to get out and look. One in particular really piqued my interest. A friend of my friend who lives in Herman, Mo. has been finding a few. Brad's buddy lives Northeast of Herman. This is a big jump in Latitude from BilletHeadville.  After a big sourdough French toast breakfast, we went for a walk to help working that batch of caloric intake burn off some. They are beginning to pop! Two colder nights coming up will be a setback but get through that it's really going to happen. Get your tick spray on your shroom hunting clothes and go at it folks. We will have a taste test this afternoon :). Mushroom knife and quarter for scale,
