skeeter Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 After my '98 225 2 stroke Yammy was ruined by Mud-Dauber Wasps, I learned to keep a vented engine cover on the motor cowling at all times.....the hard way ! Finally found a good, used 4-stroke 225 SHO VMax on the new/used Skeeter we just bought and wondering if any of you guys/gals have bought vented covers for yours and where you found them ? There's a source in Australia called OCA for vented splash covers but no one seems to re-produce the colorful OEM graphics from Yamaha on their covers . Dratted Wasps !
Ketchup Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 Look up Tuff Skinz. Most of the bug guys on the Skeeter FB pages use theirs with good reviews. May look at RMP as well. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
Ranger520vx Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 Just curious how did the mud daubers ruin your motor?

A mud dauber nest anywhere inside your cowling will feed abrasive material into your air intake, as vibration causes it to turn back into dust and grit. Marine engines don't have air filters....since dusty roads aren't where you operate them. It's a good idea to remove your cowling occasionally......just to make sure nobody has "moved in". nomolites and grizwilson 1 1

That’s kind of what I figured happened I was just wondering if there was some other way that they ruined it that I wasn’t aware of. Thanks Wrench
