Had a cranking battery failure Friday on my river jet.  Moved a tm battery over and carried on.  (as @fishinwrenchsays don't need crap in the way fly fishing) Stole deep cycle out of bass boat for Saturday.  Deep cycle spins my 50hp Tohatsu 2 smoke fine.  I would like to go to lithium for all three batteries just for weight. Guys who have bit the bullet seem to like the lithium TM batteries.  My question is will one work for a starter battery on my little motor, I know the guys who have tried on opti's say a no go.  Any insight appreciated.  I am looking at 100 amp hour lithium. Thanks in advance.

check the max current rating, you need around 300 amp

Thanks, Cody, the lithium folks are happy to provide amp hours, but avoid current ratings.  Almost need to just try one....

large capacity is cheap, but big amp draw capability is not.  If money is no object you can definitely get a lithium battery that will start your jet easily, but if it were me I would buy a AGM 20-bs battery for starting the motor and use lithium for the trolling motor.

The cells I used to build my battery will absolutely start an outboard.  each battery has a 200amp short circuit ability

Thanks Cody, Dakota lists a couple dual purpose but twice as high as what I am looking at and only 60ah, I run two fish finders on it, SI at back and just down up front.  I do have a small agm guess I can try.

if your running electronics get a odyssey pc925 side by side battery. plenty of reserve for electronics, and 550cca.

Would be good to know what size the little motor is. I can't imagine a small (up to 25hp) outboard needing more than 100 amps.

The little AGM is not a bad choice either, you're not looking at a large weight consequence.

depending on chemistry the difference in a agm vs lipo vs lifepo isn't enough imo to justify the cost.  way different on trolling motor batteries.
