Happy Bday to @FishnDave! I hope that you have a great day but no Gar-an-tees and that you get some Carp gifts today🤣! Just be sure to wash the stink off before eating any cake!

Happy BDay to @Ryan Miloshewski! I have no puns for your next trip to Taney or if you are going out for doves soon🤔. Hope that you have a great day regardless👍. Also be sure to wash up before eating any cake 😉!

Thank you @Johnsfolly! I have been down at Phil's since last Saturday. I'll share some pics soon, but have landed quite a few trophy fish. Been a great week fishing!

First brown was 24-inches on a hopper. Rainbow was 21.5-inches. Second brown was 24.25-inches on a DD SS jerkbait.

I'll hijack this instead of starting a new topic. But fishing with a hopper on Taneycomo right now is unreal. I can almost guarantee a 20+ inch fish, or multiple, every morning. They are looking up hard and munching.

I came down last Saturday with my family but didn't really get to start fishing hard until Monday night. Went with my sister in the evening to fish jerkbaits. I ended up catching that large brown on one of Duane's 606 baits. Ate it and only fought him for a couple minutes before he was in the net. A quick tape and pic and he was charging back to the depths. He was angry. I wish I would've gotten a girth because he was a fatty. Oh well! Called it an evening after I landed that fish.

Next morning I got out early, around 6am, and fished the hopper until 9am or so. Landed 9 fish. The first fish that ate was a 24-inch brown. Subtlest eat you'd ever see. I set the hook and realized what I had. I was able to corral him in the shallow water and away from the tree just downstream and got him in quickly. A quick length and pic and he was off to bless another fisherman. I was by myself so I didn't get a great pic, but he really looked like a White River fish. Long, slender and a big ol' head. So my last fish Monday night was a 24.25" brown and my first fish Tuesday morning was a 24" brown. Unbelievable! I don't know what I did to deserve it, but I am grateful.

Went out with @dpitt yesterday morning to introduce him to the hopper bite and it was on yet again. I landed 6 fish, two being over 20-inches, and he lost three and landed one. He still needs to get the hang of it :). We had a lot of fish refuse yesterday..thinking they may be getting a bit wise. Changing hoppers has been effective, especially when doing multiple drifts. I made a perfect cast and was saying out loud "come on, reward me!" when a 21" fish took the hopper. It was the highlight of the morning.

My taxidermist is down now and we fished yesterday evening with the water running and slammed them again. He's new to fly fishing and kept saying "man, I love this." Don't we all, Tim! We will be fishing the tournament tomorrow and I am hard pressed to not go up and throw the hopper. We shall see.

This is a great testament to this forum. I've met and fished, and become friends with so many people on here. Truly a great place to share and banter. If you are near Taneycomo and want to have an incredible day fly fishing, tie on a hopper and let it fly!

Thanks @Johnsfolly !

I have a VERY long history of ALWAYS taking the day off and going fishing on my birthday.  And fishing usually turns out to be very good!  This year it didn't happen.  I took the day off work, but it was to get my son's college stuff loaded up into my vehicle and his vehicle, and move him back to Truman.  Did not fish the entire weekend. 😐

Oh...and yesterday was our 29th wedding anniversary.  We both forgot. :blur:

45 two weeks ago for us. Hard to believe she has put up with me that long. Guess she is keeping me for the long run.
