fshndoug Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 Wrench I got sidelined with a bad sprain to my left ankle a month ago Healed up okay ,ready to rock and roll. At what age does one start feeling old.

Well, I think that once you start getting old there's a degree of pain associated with nearly everything you set out to do. Once you are familiar with the degree of pain, and make a decision whether it's worth it to endure the pain to just complete the task......you are officially getting OLD. "Too old" is when it just isn't worth it anymore.

At what age does one start feeling old. I'm not Wrench but I can tell you at 60 I still felt pretty tip top but was starting to lose some flexibility. 65 is an age that has so many connotations to it it's hard not to reflect on what you can do now vs then. But overall still pretty good. I'm 70 now and still feel like 16 but those 54 years of experience are starting to take a toll. Old rockin' chair still hasn't got me yet though, and won't without a struggle either. Shoulders and a torn right bicep are the main obstacles for me. And flexibility.
Quillback Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 I'll be 65 in a couple of weeks, at the time, everything is working OK and no major aches and pains. I am too fat, and I am back on the diet train, 15 lbs. so far in 3 months. I could still stand to lose about 40 more so it will be a while. One thing about living in a community with a lot of old people is that if you start a conversation with anyone about aches and pains or past surgeries or anything medical related, then they'll one up you every time. If I have anything going on from a health standpoint I don't even bring it up because once you do, you get to listen to the long laundry list of what the other person has going on. I'm not one that casts a shadow in the doctors office unless I'm in really bad condition. And the mere mention of ANYTHING that is bothering me always results in everyone within earshot telling me to "go to the doctor". Believe me, if I had any faith that a doctor could fix it, I'd have already been. The only thing worse IMO than dealing with an ailment, is being shuffled from one doctor to another and constantly being on my way to some far away clinic for one thing or another. Sitting in a waiting room for 2 hours until someone looks at me for 6 minutes then schedules me ANOTHER appointment. Screw that lifestyle! Quillback 1
