Foghorn Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 I received a phone call over the weekend with the caller telling me that long time Bennett Springs resident and fly shop owner Ed Elersic had passed away. I was hesitant to initially say anything as I hadn't found anything in the news or on social media. After talking to Charlie Reading and Ben from the hatchery, they confirmed the info from the phone call. Thought a lot of the OA family would remember Ed and Kay from the old Springview Fly shop in the park and later out on the highway. BilletHead, trythisonemv, laker67 and 2 others 1 4
Members Harv Posted September 1, 2022 Members Posted September 1, 2022 That's sad news, I have many great memories of those two both on the creek and at Springview fly shop. Thanks for posting this Jeff. trythisonemv 1
fishinwrench Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 Doggonnit 😔 Since he's gone now I guess he can't get mad at me for posting this pic of him.....Stoned out of his gourd 😎 Lots of good memories 👍 Foghorn 1
jdmidwest Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 I remember them well. He came to my shop in Cape Girardeau and did a fly cast work shop with the Orvis rep. I would visit with them at the Springview each time I went to Bennett. Shop has been closed for years. Kay made a MDC cover about women and fly-fishing if I remember right. trythisonemv 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Foghorn Posted September 4, 2022 Author Posted September 4, 2022 There was a short obituary in the Laclede County Record and a picture from the days of neoprene waders of Ed's passing. trythisonemv 1
