Members RangerR83 Posted September 20, 2022 Members Posted September 20, 2022 Not motor related but curious if you’re aware of any boat salvage yards I might be able to find some decent compartment and livewell lids for a 02 Ranger 518?
fishinwrench Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 Pontoon, old runabouts, and Bayliner scrapyards.....yeah there's a few. But I know of none with any Ranger bassboats in the mix. If you have the old lid, or a matching one, I can teach you how to make a mold and build one from fiberglass and plywood. It isn't too terribly difficult. cheesemaster 1
Members RangerR83 Posted September 22, 2022 Author Members Posted September 22, 2022 I still have all the lids. I considered having someone build new ones out of aluminum as well.

Ranger520vx Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 I fixed the 2 big lids on the rear deck of the 520 that I had. I just cut a piece of I think was 1/4” plywood that would fit the inside recess on the bottom of the lid and glassed it in with fiberglass cloth and resin. Made them a little heavier but the were solid. Then painted them white underneath to match the other lids .
fishinwrench Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 You can stiffen up a soft or sagging hatch lid with a piece or two of 90° aluminum riveted to the bottom. grizwilson 1
