aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Its nothing special its a Lews Wally Marshal 12'. I think it was $59. I couldnt tell much difference holding it compared to the others. Im no expert with the long rod, just thought i would try it out. IT has its place from time to time. This video is interesting how they are using them
Dutch Posted December 5, 2022 Author Posted December 5, 2022 That’s not the way I plan to use one. I will be vertical jigging away from the boat.
Members Beasley Posted December 6, 2022 Members Posted December 6, 2022 No 3 pound crappie but it will boat flip 3 pound drum. It’s got plenty of backbone to boat flip any crappie you are going to catch around here grizwilson 1
Members Beasley Posted December 6, 2022 Members Posted December 6, 2022 Acc crappie stix rods are 5.9 ounces for a 12 foot and I still use the bass pro rod 95 percent of the time if that helps you any. I have an 8 foot outlaw rod and the action is way too flimsy. Don’t know how their 12’ rods are but if they are flimsy like my 8’ then I wouldn’t recommend it. Needs to be fairly stiff to get a good hook set especially in deep water. Just my opinion though everyone fishes differently
MrGiggles Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 I have a 10' Ozark rear seat, Everharts was closing them out a few years ago and I got it for like $20. It's a good rod, but I always found it pretty awkward to flip fish with, and storing it is a hassle. I suppose it has it's uses but not for how I like to fish. -Austin
Members RangerR83 Posted December 11, 2022 Members Posted December 11, 2022 Check out Bait WrX, we have several brands including Jenki, Outlaw, Denali, Lew’s Wally Marshall.
Dutch Posted December 27, 2022 Author Posted December 27, 2022 I had to go to BPS today for some trebles and looked at the long rods again. I wound up getting the 12’ crappie max pro. It looks like I may get to go in a few days. grizwilson and BilletHead 2
Members Beasley Posted December 27, 2022 Members Posted December 27, 2022 You will like it. I have a 2500 size shimano ci4 on mine so the combo is as light as possible and I have a great drag for the occasional walleye. By no means necessary but the lighter reel helps you not get fatigued. Caught this one back in November while crappie fishing using the bps 12’ rod grizwilson 1
Dutch Posted December 27, 2022 Author Posted December 27, 2022 I plan to put a 1000 Shimano Symmetry on it. I have some not working for a living right now. I haven’t made a line decision yet I am thinking 8# fluorocarbon. I think any wind and braid would drive me nuts.
