I'd not be surprised if we had spoken at such an event and not known to whom we spoke. Screen names on forums don't come to mind in a brief conversation. We have  no recognition hand shakes, secret signs  or identifying colors to make us easy to spot.  I just wandered around talking to the tyers, son wanted to see a couple of the presentations. One guy tied a fly without a vise, interesting to watch, but not something I intend to learn.

LOL... that would be fun.  I just need to find a bed to crash on.

You could sleep in the back of Doug's truck and pilfer through all his fly boxes he has stashed in there.

I'm thinking of wearing a beanie, so if you see a tall, old guy wearing a hat with a propellor on it...

In another thought, this would be an excellent time for someone who wanted to pick up the bow-mount trolling motor I have way back of the sale/transfer subforum, the expo would be an ideal time to do it. Or if you could take it to someone who needs it...I really would like to see it go to a good home. I probably should go through my rods as well. Saving the $30+ shipping would pay for someone's gas.

Yes, and a much better place than the church at Brighton. They had outgrown that place.

I was only there once for a few minutes, just to pick up my “guide”, but it seemed like it had a whole lot going on in a tight space.

Maybe I can get those oars picked up from Mr. Jackson?????

Fly fishing, fly tying show returns March 11 in Clinton

News-Leader Staff

A fly fishing and fly tying show is returning to the Ozarks in March.

The annual Tri-Lakes Fly Fishers club-sponsored event will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 11 at the Benson Center in Clinton. Admission, parking and workshops are free for folks in attendance. The club’s show has been attracting fly fishing enthusiasts since 1997, according to a news release from the Tri-Lakes Fly Fishers.

Nationally recognized fly tier and river guide Brian Wise will host workshops throughout the day. Some 40 other fly tiers from across the country will also be exhibiting their flies and teaching techniques.

Vendors will display fly fishing and outdoor gear while raffles, silent auctions and drawings commence. There will be a live auction consisting of rods, reels, guided trips and more.

The day is an opportunity to acquire some quality equipment or the fishing trip of a lifetime at bargain prices, the news release stated.

The Tri-Lakes Fly Fishers group is based in Bolivar and meets on the first Monday of each month at the El Rodeo Restaurant in Bolivar. Dinner is usually at 6 p.m. with a short business meeting at 7 p.m., followed by a program about fly fishing or fly tying. The club leases a pond for its members to fish and hosts regular fishing outings at various locations for the membership. All those interested in fly fishing and tying are invited to join the club. For information, contact Nick and Sandy Halteman at 417-646-5568.

Don't know about Mr. Jackson, but the oars are waiting.
