I did not launch until 9 AM, waited for it to get above freezing.  I have a spot where there have been deep bass for the last month, they were still there Saturday, but the average size was not good.  Caught a bunch of 10-13 inch spotted bass running a 2.8 Keitech right off the bottom in 40 feet of water.  Only caught 2 that were decent sized 2 lbers.

After that bite died off, I went and fished the main basin in the dam area for smallmouth and could not find them, only caught one that went about 14 inches.  At 2:30 I headed for home.

Only saw 2 fishing boats, surprised me, with the nice weather I thought there'd be a lot more people out there.

I wonder if the lust for fishing is starting to fade. Seems with covid and pre covid fishing was the thing to do. Now, the chatter has slowed down and people are reporting fewer people on the water.

No complaints from me.

Could be folks don’t have the play money they use to have.

That's a definite possibility especially with the high gas prices.

I’m glad you got out there.  The people that you didn’t see must be fishing Stockton.  Saturday I was down by the dam and it looked like a summer  number of boats.  They were everywhere and that is not normal for that end of the lake.

I'd bet most are just over the hill from him or up the river arms chasing something besides bass.

It is that time of the year to be up the rivers or close to them.
