Members Knot Sure Posted May 10, 2023 Members Posted May 10, 2023 What is the best grease for boat trailer bearings, and why? What do you use?
jdmidwest Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 Red High Temp is what I run in all of my trailers. Sticky, and does not break apart under higher temps. If the bearings don't heat up running at 80, the tires will help them warm up. Seems to keeps its red color when wet, does not emulsify like some of the gray greases do when water is added and become milky. TRRANGER Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 MYSTIC JT6 RED, been using for over 40 years. Best there is. Terrierman 1
fishinwrench Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 Grease in a properly sealed and lubed wheel hub fills the void sufficiently enough to allow no room for water intrusion. Grease in a sealed hub also creeps towards areas of heat/friction and thereby reduces friction and heat. Red, Purple, Yellow, White, Blue, Brown.....who cares? Keep the hub sealed and full of it at all times.....and it simply can not fail. If the seals and the amount of grease in the hub is inadequate then it doesn't matter one bit which brand, what color, or which formula the grease is. The "Grease" is NOT the key component of a wheel hub. tjm 1
