I should have gone this morning...

Those both look like a lot of fun on topwater. Is that brown fish as big as it looks? I'm spending a couple days at the Lost Bridge North campground and see if I can do any good. I'll have to dodge some thunderstorms here and there, but so be it.

I'm kicking myself for letting the rain possibilities scare me off Monday as well! Had a trip scheduled for today but my friend backed out to go chase potential 'naders out west. So been out all morning catching up on yard work. Took some guys out Tuesday to bream fish and they caught several and 5 or 6 catfish on night crawlers. I picked up a big black crappie and a few white bass (had 1 green fish come unpinned) throwing jerkbait or Keitech across the pockets I set up in for them to fish the bank. We had a fun afternoon.

I caught a big ol' bluegill yesterday on a Keitech.  I may have to break out the redworms soon.

Big gills have started on the Rock too. Caught a couple on a C-rig of all things and a couple on a football jig.  They played havoc with our jig trailer tails.

How would you target the gills onTR this time of year?

C rig a half crawler on a #4 or 6 octopus hook with a small float bead just above the hook. Drag very slowly (.5 mph) 5 to 15 feet deep on sandy/gravel primary and secondary points. Use 6 to 8# line and set the drag carefully, as you may have surprise visitors.

Have fun.
