Sat down to tie up a dozen more and discovered that the white that I used was FLUORESCENT WHITE. Oh No! my "fluorescent white" tail is all used up. I have 4 full, and gorgeous, WHITE tails. Do I take a chance that regular WHITE is fine? Oh hell to the NO! So, had to order a pair of FLUORESCENT WHITE deer tails.....and of course while I'm ordering stuff I probably should get more 6/0 thread and I can never have too many 1/40th lead dumbbell eyes, ect. And WOAH, hooks are on sale until after Christmas! Grand total for 2 deer tails=176.78 This is how we end up with cases full of $#!t, and then later wonder why ! Wrench--could you post an image of this fly? I am accompanying my wife to a fiber arts workshop tomorrow, and I figure I might as well tie some flies instead of sitting there like a lump. I'd like to tie a few as it sounds like an interesting pattern. On a side note, I was just down in the hoarding room putting together materials so that I could tie a few crappie flies that I want to use on Indiana spinners (a very deadly combo for trout) when I realized that in my usual hook storage space, I only had some high-end or saltwater hooks with ringed eyes. It was hard to believe that I had no ringed eye hooks in the old Mustard series, something like a 3399A but with a straight eye. I did find some 1/0 and 2/0, long-shank VMC streamer hooks that would work if the crappies I'll be targeting are 20 inches plus...finally, in the last drawer I opened in my off-brand hook depository, I ran across two boxes of #4 and #2 hooks from the WWII stash that were perfect, along with a box of Pflueger hooks with a kirbed bend. I guess saving stuff "I'll never use" paid off. BilletHead, tjm and Daryk Campbell Sr

Not much success on the Deceiver this Fall because of the falling water level this year throughout October-November I just never found much blitzing activity. But I flat hammered them on the #4 Clouser in this color scheme. Sunny, Cloudy, and even after the sun had gone down. As for hooks, I use Mustad 34007 SS kjackson and BilletHead

I have been doing something similar for four years except using shades of grey for the back. Temprate bass really, really love them. Amber impressed her engineering cohorts a month ago. Seems they were fumbling with some Paracord trying to make a loop that wasn't a slip-knot, or an overhand granny knot.....She said "Here give me that cord", and whipped a loop in that sumbitch real quick like. They were astounded 😅 kjackson, Mitch f and fshndoug 2
