I've searched through all the movies that Andy Griffith starred in......but I don't think any of the guys I mentioned were the actual "stars" of the movie (or show).    I just don't know.

I've spent entire evenings trying to figure it out, but never have.    I remember it clear as day though.

No kidding?   I always thought you were a life long fly fisher.  👍

Nope. Didn’t start until I quit tournament fishing and was looking for a different way to target river smallies. I don’t have much use for trout. I prefer the black bass family over all other things.

I'm getting that way.  Except big trout on relatively heavier tackle.  Meaning heavier than 5x tippets and 2 pound line typical for trout.  I've experimented more and more with traditional bass baits for trout with surprising results...

Uncle Jesse on Dukes of Hazzard

Denver Pyle

Both appeared on the Andy Griffith show, so maybe  one of those B&W episodes. Although I only recall bait casting gear on the few  shows that I saw.

There was a documentary or movie shown at school about 1960 that had two guys in a boat in some south eastern swamp fly casting what looked like ~80' and taking large mouth bass, that I'd like to see again, but I have no idea what the movie was called or who the people were or what it was about other than  the fishing scenes.
