snagged in outlet 3 Posted March 13 Posted March 13 I got on the water at 11 and left at 1. WT was 55 today and the river dropped quite a bit from Monday. I caught 18 and had 5 get off at the boat. Biggest was 17 inches. Two of them had lampreys on them. White Tackle max fugitive swim bait, PBJ mullet jig, chartreuse/blue crank and PBJ Ned did the damage. Beautiful weather too. Quillback, Flysmallie, dpitt and 2 others 5
jdmidwest Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Those lampreys are popping up everywhere. Back in the 80's, we only found 1 in a season doing a year long stream survey on a stream off of the Mississippi. Had one on a smallie a few years back on the 11pt. snagged in outlet 3 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson

Are lamprey’s an indicator species? Like are they a good sign for a waterway? Those smallmouth look hella healthy. Beautiful fish! snagged in outlet 3 1
jdmidwest Posted March 14 Posted March 14 I guess they were always here, just never saw them much. Had that one on a 11pt smallie a few years ago and none since. They are a primitive species like an eel. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Quillback Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Are you using a half Zinker as a jig trailer? That's not fair to the fish. 😃 I have to try that, good idea. snagged in outlet 3 1

It’s a TRD finesse. There is an old study done by Pure Fishing I think. Years ago. They tested craw baits. Both pinchers, one pincher and craws with no pinchers. The no pincher craw got dramatically more bites than the others. The TRD gives it some buoyancy and hangs up a LOT less. Stands straight up too. Works great!! Daryk Campbell Sr and Quillback 2

Works great!! How’s that Tungsten Mullet working out? You like that extra sensitivity in the tungsten? snagged in outlet 3 1 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

Anyway I seem to always catch them on fish in a wintering hole. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

With a TRD trailer it’s tough to feel the bottom with a lead head unless it’s real heavy. And then hangs up a lot more. But the tungsten with braid is almost as good as FFS😂 Mitch f and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
