Will This Bait Work?

I use a Molasses Corn Meal dough bait for Carp.

Shouldn't even want to change  but will this work for Suckers?

I wouldn't even know who to ask. 

You're the only person I know of that pole & line fishes for Suckers.

Well I do good with Worms which I have plenty of. 

I was just looking for Carp recipes.  LOL

As a youngster, my Dad made his own dough bait recipe for carp.  Something like flour, corn meal, vanilla, karo syrup.  I don't recall ever catching suckers on it.  I think worms are the better choice for sucker bait.

I used to catch suckered with rod/reel.  Always used worms, never even considered a dough bait.  For carp it seemed like everyone had their own secret recipe for dough bait.  Some used strawberry jello, some different flavor jello, Wheaties, cornflakes, the cheapest bourbon at the liquor store (fairly certain that was most for the guy making the dough bait.  I mostly used corn or worms.  A can of corn with about half thrown out for chum. All in all very similar to trout fishing.  Catching carp was always a hoot whether in a creek or lake you learn to fight big fish, and if you lose em so what.

I always used Wheaties for carp.  Grab a handful, close your fist around them, dunk you closed fist in the water and pull it out, you want the Wheaties to be a little damp, then roll it into a ball and mold it around a treble hook.

I always made a dough. Get a couple cups of water boiling add 2 tablespoons of Molasses, then thicked up with Corn Meal. 

Back when I was younger many ate Carp would even find it in the store.

I know its not everyone's cup-o-tea... but having grown up fishing doughbait or worms for carp, flyfishing artificials for them gave me a huge appreciation for them that I didn't have before.  It turned them into predators to be actively enticed.  Much more fun and exciting.  Just sharing a personal observation.

I'm still a little scarred from those early days of doughbait fishing for carp.  My dad would catch one and say, "look at the size of this ba$tard!"  I suppose I'd heard of bass.  I assumed "ba$tard" was another name for these fish.  So I was shocked and confused when my mom got angry with me for calling them that.
