Maverickpro201 Posted June 30 Posted June 30 What are the good and bad with the newer 2018 to 2023 5.7 Hemi Ram trucks? Going to sell my 2012 3500 cummins, has a tuner, never been out stock or tow mode. All I am towing now is my Bass Boat. Thanks snagged in outlet 3 1
snagged in outlet 3 Posted June 30 Posted June 30 I don’t know about the new ones but my 2013 Laramie, bought in 2012 has been better than 3 Sierra’s and Yukon Denali I had previously. It has 205k miles on it. And I’ve been using it to tow my little jet Jon since 2017. Replaced a headlight and heater core a while back. Recently had a fuel evap code and it was fixed under the lifetime warranty I paid $1200 for when I bought it. I just put the 3rd set of tires on it. Everything works. I paid $38k new back then. aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Not sure about the new ones but I have an old 2006 Hemi Megacab 3/4 ton and 35's. Has 260k on it and still going strong. Only things I have don't are just typical maintenance. Just changed the original Wheel Bearing and Ball joints last month (that was a nightmare). Going to sell it soon though, just time for something new
Terrierman Posted July 10 Posted July 10 I've had several 5.7 trucks. The engine has power deluxe and decent fuel economy. They'll only last from now on. The rest of the truck will wear out first, given decent maintenance.
MrGiggles Posted July 11 Posted July 11 The "Hemi tick" is still an issue. They pretty frequently break off manifold bolts, or the lifters will eat themselves since FCA engineers think oil can defy gravity. It's mostly an issue if the truck has been idled a lot, though. Fords are bad about the manifold bolts too, and GMs are even worse about valvetrain issues, pick your poison if you want a domestic. snagged in outlet 3 1 -Austin

I mainly highway drive and use tow mode a lot so I think it’s getting enough oil circulation.
