I just picked up a Old 1965 Johnson 6hp seahorse model CD-22M, Motor ID 2499961. Pulls fairly easy. Old Man said it ran 2 years ago.

Does thing have a water pump that need to be replaced, What type of 2 cycle oil do I run in it and what mix?

What do I need to do before trying to start this thing? Should I shoot anything into the cylinders before trying to start or what is needed?

Also Wrench do you have any good under 10 horse powered motors around? Just in case this one does not work and should be used for a anchor.

Thank you so much.

Yeah there is a water pump that should be serviced.

If it is turning over freely then there's no need to coat the cylinders before attempting to start it.

I have a couple of little motors in the bone pile currently.....but do not have titles for any of them, so basically they are just being sacrificed for parts.

I do not care so much about titles, Not been stopped in years. I bought this boat, motor and trailer to fish 10 hp and under what you have that runs good?

Do you know what the water pump service number is? Thanks

Brother, if they "ran good" they wouldn't be here. 😅  And honestly anything under a 15hp isn't worth me spending any time on.

I'll snap a pic of them tomorrow if it isn't raining, and if you want to spend the time to refresh one of them then you are welcome to them.  It would be just one less thing for me to weed-eat around 😊
