Bill Babler Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Weight to weigh is 1.8 pounds and the MLF guys are saying full blown spawn on the full moon. They are again saying. Spinnerbait, chatterbait and crank bait Lots of bed fishing also. They were totally wrong on TR and fished it so bad it made the lake look barren. I think the big fish in RedCrest was only 4.10. I’m sure Beaver will top that. The ramps up here are packed with them. Have not seen a single MLF boat on gravel. All on bluffs or steep stuff throwing a chatter. dpitt, snagged in outlet 3 and Quillback 3 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
snagged in outlet 3 Posted April 24 Posted April 24 I don’t know about that but Im heading to the Rock tomorrow and looking forward to some April full moon fishing!!!
Bill Babler Posted April 24 Author Posted April 24 They can’t be on Beaver so they are practicing up here and from what I hear several have been spotted on Bull Shoals. It seems the same thing is going to happen on Beaver. Use FFS on deep bed fish in the first period then struggle the last 2 periods. That is unless this rain raises the lake level and colors up the water. Up here they drove past 20 keepers to catch 1. We’ll see if it’s the same with Beaver. It’s going to be a fun watch. snagged in outlet 3 1 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Quillback Posted April 25 Posted April 25 I'm looking forward to watching it, but have no predictions on what will work. I know of a couple of guys that ran into pretty good top water bites last week in the mid lake area, but wonder if that will happen next week. I believe they can practice Mon-Wed. next week, I may get out there one of those days to see if any of them are on the lower end smallmouth country. snagged in outlet 3 1
Members razorbackfan4life Posted Sunday at 05:21 PM Members Posted Sunday at 05:21 PM There will be some new spawners, but the bulk have already done the deed IMO. I went out yesterday, and we caught about 30 in 4 hours. Out of those 30 I'd say about 12 were scoreable. Biggest being a 3.2 smallmouth. Most of the scoreables were that upper 1 lb to 2.2 lb range. When I switched to the ned rig, I caught better quality than the swimbait I was throwing. When I was throwing the swimbait I had the boat at 12-14' casting towards the bank. When I picked up the ned I was sitting in 6' casting out to 10'-15' towards standing timber. Sometime around or shortly after noon, the fish just stopped biting. Classic Beaver lake. I even went back to the spot where I caught them on the ned rig, and couldn't get a bite. Stripers had moved in and that may have had something to do with it, but Beaver Lake can turn like a light switch, good or bad, any day you go out. Champ188 Posted Wednesday at 04:54 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:54 PM 91 pounds, 11 ounces This isn't Table Rock or Toledo Bend or Rayburn --- you'll run yourself ragged and out of time trying to bed fish on Beaver with a 1.8-pound minimum. For every 2-pounder you find on a bed, you'll have to go past half a dozen 10-inch males guarding. Yes, bed fishing was the deal back in the days of the old FLW Walmart Open for the simple reason that 10 pounds a day was smashing them; 7-8 pounds a day would get you a nice check and maybe even a place in the 10-man finals. I covered those events and I remember that more than once, a fellow made it into the finals without weighing a single largemouth in the three qualifying rounds. One of those was a guy who was local back then named J.R. Beehler. Darn good fisherman. Someone's gonna have to find the post-spawn largemouth to win this one. I'd guess that'll be done in the White or War Eagle river arms, or a combination of the two. There just isn't a big number of 1-8+ bites in a day's time on Beaver unless one can find a school or two of post-spawn largemouth that are hungry. Spawn's been done for awhile up the river arms, so there has to be some schools of keeper LM wandering around. Crankbait could be a big player and watch out if Mark Davis gets on something like that. Members Phil S Posted Wednesday at 08:34 PM Members Posted Wednesday at 08:34 PM Is there live covering on TV or streaming service?
Bill Babler Posted Wednesday at 08:51 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 08:51 PM Nope on the TV, but you can watch it online at MLF Now. Starts at 7:30. I always like the initial interview and the Full Send. snagged in outlet 3 and Phil S 2 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Quillback Posted Wednesday at 09:09 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:09 PM I may wander over to Indian Creek tomorrow, I don't know if any of them will go after the smallies, but may see some of them in the area. Definitely will catch some live coverage this weekend. snagged in outlet 3 1
Quillback Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago They are fishing, looks to be a little tough out there this morning. Thrift is around a top water bite. If they stay up, he could be off to a good start.
