I just love garage and rummage sales

  Last week I started a post on small game and about me selling squirrel tails to mepps. Then it morphed to mepps lures which morphed again to old bait casters. I bought a couple ambassador 5000s in the mid 70s and fished for bass fish using big size 4 and 5 fox squirrel dressed spinners. I still have those two reels plus more. Fast forward to the Nevada mo city wide garage sales weekend. Found an Erie skillet at a good price. Next stop a church rummage sales for kids for a church camp. As I walked through I found an old ambassador case for three bucks. On the next table two four screw ambassador 5000s whut in the world one with a one dollar tag and the other one dollar fifty cents. These are really nice unlike mine that now have aluminum flat bottom boat rash plus rash from the bottom of old pickup beds. 

  I was kinda curious about dating them because I never even thought about it before.  One search said four screw were pre 63 and others said pre 67. One of the reels has the hole in the cap both sides for oiling from the outside.

   If you are wondering we gave more for the church camp outing. I felt double blessed this morning. 

   To all of our bass fishing friends back when I used white Dacron that had some black in the line. We did not use mono leaders super braid and caught so many fish. I even used an ugly brass snap swivel on the end of the line.

That's pretty neat, great finds!  Bella Vista city wide garage sale was last weekend too.  I never look around because when I do all I see is junk.  I guess I am just not persistent enough.  I'm always happy when the sale ends because the traffic is crazy.

Another pretty funny deal. I found a worth company flutter fin lure. I laughed and told the guy it looked like my mustache. Handed him the two dollar bills the asking price.  This was made and marketed in 1959 ,1960. This thing is almost as old as I am. 

  I got to thinking if a jitterbug and this flutter fin had a baby this might have been the origin of the whopper plopper. 😆 It originally had a dressed treble. Being a fly tyer I can fix that.
