I’ve tried a few of the recommended high dollar ones, and the middle of the road ones. They can be super effective before, during, and after the spawn. Mike I love the red craw one in early Spring, and that copper back/green sided one (whatever it's called) is an absolute bass destroyer before, during, and after the spawn. I love them...if only they lasted longer. Them darn circuit board lips of the newer baits are the bomb though.
