Got home last night from this year's spring fling at Tenkiller. It is only my wanderlust that takes me away from my beloved Bull Shoals, but I could be equally Happy fishing at Tenkiller full time.
I will spare you the neurotic details and cut to the chase. We whacked em. A lot of size. A lot of species. And just a lot of fish. BUT it was lots more difficult than the previous two years experience.
The lake being 5 feet low didn't help my feelings much, but didn't really hurt us and showed me some gravel areas to remember.
what "messed" us up was that fish were in later stages of spawn if not post spawn AND we had lots of sunshine. At times, it was a grind. I start pressing because I'm not catching them fast enough. The question is always am I using the best technique for the conditions I'm facing. I'm seldom satisfied with how fast the buried are coming.
we caught a lot more LMB this time around and a lot less Spotted Bass. White Bass are everywhere in the lake and varied btw being a pleasant distraction and an antidepressant.
Friday we fished bass for a few hours and then caught crappie for the table. Although, it seemed like we caught almost as many smallies while trying to crappie fish.
I'm hoping my hands heal from the fins, hooks, and teeth rub marks. I've Got a crap ton of gear to straighten out. Need to pull it together quickly. BSL is on fire.
Work first, play later.
