Canoe Liveries having been dumping the ignorant into boats and putting them in harms way for decades. people literally have NO IDEA what they are doing or what the risks are. These same people then often throw gas on that potential fire by intoxicating themselves with drugs or alcohol. I am honestly surprised that I haven't seen a "have you or a loved one been killed or injured in a rental canoe or kayak" legal cattle calls.

10 years ago it was rare to see a kayak on the White River ; these days they are almost as common as dead armadillo on the side of the road.

I'm not sure if it is because of Ida or not, but the powers that be SHUT the water OFF at about 4 PM yesterday. Thousands of trout will die today because they went from 19 K to zero if the chart is to be believed and it is sure as heck Low right now. . Thank God for Catch and Release right?

There is a lot to respect about Amish/Mennonite , but the perception is that they don't respect game laws so they play by a different set of rules. IF hunting and fishing regs are based on science then everybody that fishes should play by the same rules.

Bowfin aren't invasive. If you've got Snakehead intell, I'm all ears.

I think they have damaged the rods stepping on them and mishandling them. You're 100 % correct that it is a terrible look for the rod makers though.

And I think you know pretty well what you're going to be fishing. if I was on the frog thing, I MIGHT hate 4 rods out at the Max. Two colors or styles of frogs, a fluke, and something to pitch or flip with.

Once they are dialed into a technique, Why in the world do they have 10 - 12 rods out all the time ? wouldn't 6 be plenty?

I have found a few spots a couple of hours away where the Bowfin are abundant and willing. This one was targeted and caught on a flyrod. t

When you trailer a boat 6 plus hours to try for 3 days to catch a Bowfin and you Zero while your Buddy catches two, that's fishing. I had my chances.

My Dad and I where fishing the Red River a LONG time ago at the mouth of the Port Lake in Pool 3. We got on a massive school of White Bass and we were catching them on Tiny Torpedos with a crappie jig trailer. Well, we both got a double hooked up and Smart guy me grabs another rod and got a 5 th fish right at boat side so now we have 5 White Bass to unhook and not a lot of free hands. we literally caught them until we were tired of it.

1/16 oz should be fine. Not deep and not swift. I think 6 lb would be fine but I use 2 lb for micros and panfish sooooo
