  1. First off, thank you very much for the directions! You’re saying cross the bridge heading out of the park and in zone 3? Just wanted to be sure. Again, thank you!
  2. What zone/where is highbank hole? My buddies and I always head down for Fishmas (the nickname we give to the weekend before Christmas) and always catch.
  3. does someone have the pic? I don't have FB...
  4. The man is all class and will put you on the fish. Took my 6 yr old on his first guided trip with Captain Steve (I've used him for years) and he made it happen again. On top of the incredible level of customer service, on top of the killer fishing (put 70 trout to the boat in less than four hours), Captain Steve knew how to engage my son. Captain Steve really made Charlie's first fishing trip the highlight of our week, which included fishing NFOW and Roaring River. Taneycomo and Steve Dickey are like meat and potatoes. Use this man for a guided trip; you will not be disappointed. P.S. He also gave us a killer restaurant recommendation.
  5. What kind of boat do you have? Does it have a jet motor? I had no idea you could even get a boat that size on the 'nade.
  6. I'd prefer to buy some, quite honestly. I'm a big believer in supporting small business. A bunch of guys I know have gotten some of the prototypes and have nothing but great things to say.
  7. baby gots to have his Mitch Craws. how can i make that happen? Thanks, Tom
  8. Guys - can't thank you enough for the response on this, and I really can't wait to get the 'old Grumman Freighter into this water. A quick follow-up: What lures to use specifically for the goggs and smallies on a spinning reel? Is any artificial bait for LMBs applicable here? I'm thinking a 5'5" rod with and 6lb fluro on a spinning reel. Will small swim baits, Zoom soft plastics or Bandit 100s pull out smallies? I'm totally flying blind when it comes to the bass on these rivers. I'm going to use my typical fly/spinning reel set ups for the trout. I prefer cracklebacks to woolies but that's a matter of preference...
  9. Been fishing Bennett with a group of friends for years. Every year a buddy and I take a day and fish further and further outside of the park. Wondering what fish bite directly outside the park? Up from the mouth of Bennett and down? What are the good day floats around Bennett? Thanks guys! Tom
  10. Cabelas house brand. Period. Their breathable stockingfoot wader (comparable to Simms et al) is $179 on sale from the Internet. If you're a waterfowl hunter, you might also consider their breathable boot foot wader - also $179. I've hunted and hiked several miles across bottomlands with chest high grass in them with no problems whatsoever. And, neither the trout nor the geese seem to mind that I'm using one set of waders for both activities. An aside: Gore Technologies lost the Gore-Tex patent several years ago. Thus, it's variants such as Cabela's Dry Plus are almost identical in design. I do not work for Cabelas; just have several pieces of house brand hunting clothing across several different types of hunting/fishing (including two sets of waders) and have found all of them to exceed performance expectations...and I'm not a brand snob...more of a cheapskate!! Lastly, I would second the need for breathable materials. Remember too that as long as you clean and dry your waders properly after each use you'll get a ton of mileage in them.
  11. I agree. I couldn't stop reading it. I was generally interested in how you were going to purify water for fifty Boy Scouts and wham-o the beaver fever convo wouldn't stop!
  12. This is so phenomenally cool! What types of flowers are they collecting off of? I hear that changes the taste and color of the honey, as does the time of year you collect.
  13. Awesome! Thanks for the info! One last question: what is a "paddle john"? Is this something you've created or a boat that Lowe sells? Can't say I've ever heard of such a craft.
  14. When you go on a multi-day trip on the niangua, what kind of boat do you use and what type of sleeping accomodations do you pack? Thanks, Tom
  15. ^ that's was deep, man. I dig metaphors.
